Cremona Conference 2026

31.8. - 4.9.2026 in Basel, Switzerland
7.9. - 11.9.2026 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland

For more than two centuries, birational transformations have captivated algebraic geometers. Ten years after the memorable Cremona Conference in 2016, we are excited to announce a new edition of this event.

The first week will feature a summer school at the University of Basel, offering five introductory mini-courses designed to introduce junior researchers to this rich and beautiful area of mathematics. The second week will host a research conference at the University of Neuchâtel, bringing together leading experts to share recent breakthroughs, exchange ideas, and provide opportunities for new collaborations. The aim of the event is to bring together diverse perspectives on Cremona groups—from birational geometry and dynamics to geometric group theory and beyond. The program will also include poster sessions and short talks by young participants.
